BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Education

The chapter was organized in May 1927 by Madge Fraser in a third floor dance studio in Detroit.  We have hosted the DMA national convention 4 times (1928, 1935, 1947, 1957).  We have also had 2 national Presidents: Phil Osterhouse (1951-1953) & Marcia Aller (198601988).  
  • Teachers Training School offered every summer
  • SHIP - A Student Honors Intensive program that is a week long program for the serious student.
  • Ballet and/or Jazz Intensive programs at our DMA Nationals
  • Fall Convention - a 2 day convention with classes, scholarship auditions, parties for students and teachers and a luncheon with our honoree. 
  • Spring Workshop - a 1 day workshop for students.  
  • National Convention - a week long event.
  • Examination Reviews and Study Groups - to review our manuals and prepare for examinations. 
  • Educational Seminar in the fall for our members - a 6 hour event.

Scholarships

  • Scholarship auditions are held at our Fall Convention and at the National Convention 
  • Scholarships awarded annually to attend TTS

  • Regional Title Holders are awarded a scholarship to attend our National Convention.
